Saturday 30 June 2018 marked the official end of the 3 year programme and provided an opportunity to celebrate Cleddau Reaches by Studio Weave – the town’s first permanent public artwork in sixty years. Musicians and makers, canoeists and civic leaders joined forces to celebrate the story of the sculptures on a scorching day that showed Haverfordwest at it’s very best.
Councillor Sue Murray, in her role as Haverfordwest Mayor, who had launched the project 3 years earlier, unveiled an interpretation panel. Sue was joined by Sherrif, Chris Thomas on a guided tour taking in the locations hosting the three sculptures – The Village Green, Weir Falls and Picton Place Gateway – led by Toby Downing and his puppet dog (made for River of Lights 2017) and accompanied by musicians Peter Stacey and Rachel Hargrave.
An afternoon of canoe trips provided by Paddlewest and drop-in making workshops with artists Michelle Cain, Daniel Settatree and Fran Evans provided opportunities to engage with different aspects of the artwork.
